The Albert Sarraut School: the History of French Education in Guangzhouwan

Tingdan Zheng

Abstract

As one of the schools opened by France in China in the early 20th century, the Albert Sarraut School had a profound impact on the
education and culture of Guangzhouwan. However, although Guangzhouwan was a former French concession, its popularity is far less than
that of Shanghai, Beijing and other places. Therefore, the Albert Sarraut School is often overlooked as a testament to French education in
China. Through literature research and data analysis, this article aims to explore the educational history of the Albert Sarraut School in the
Guangzhouwan area. Through a detailed examination of the schools founding history, educational content and impact, it reveals Frances
educational colonial methods and the contribution of the Albert Sarraut School to local education.
