A Study on Vocabulary Learning Strategies of Senior High School Students
Abstract
seen significant improvement. However, the lack of English vocabulary remains one of the prevalent challenges faced by high school students.
Although students are generally aware of the importance of vocabulary learning, they often struggle to fulfill their basic need for vocabulary
expansion due to the inability to find suitable learning strategies.
??High school students are still in the stage of vocabulary expansion, and while they have gradually accumulated some learning strategies
in the process of memorizing words, their mastery of English vocabulary learning strategies is limited, preventing them from effectively utilizing appropriate strategies to learn vocabulary and fully expanding their vocabulary size and English language knowledge.
??Students will naturally choose different vocabulary learning methods based on their differences in vocabulary. In view of this, this study
proposes a series of targeted vocabulary learning strategies, including note taking strategies, dictionary consultation strategies, guessing strategies, mechanical memorization strategies, and consolidation strategies, aimed at helping students learn vocabulary in a diversified and efficient manner.
??Ultimately, English teachers should proceed from the actual situation, guiding students on how to learn English vocabulary effectively,
teaching them to utilize multiple vocabulary learning strategies based on their individual characteristics and circumstances, in order to significantly improve the quality of English vocabulary teaching and ultimately achieve the goals of expanding high school students English
vocabulary and enhancing their overall English proficiency through the effective application of diverse vocabulary learning strategies.
