A Study on the Effects of Online Education Internship on English Teacher Trainees’ Professional Identity

Abstract

This study explores the effect of online education internships on the professional identity of English teacher trainees. Using a
mixed-methods approach, including surveys, reflective journals, and interviews, the study examines changes across four dimensions of professional identity: occupational values, role values, sense of belonging, and professional behavior. The findings indicate significant improvements
in professionalism and occupational values, with trainees developing a deeper understanding of their roles. However, challenges in fostering
a sense of belonging and technical barriers were identified. Reflection and mentorship emerged as key factors in shaping professional identity.
The study highlights the importance of support systems in online internships.
