Yaqun Guo, Bin Guo

Abstract

This article takes the opening ceremony of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games as the research corpus, and uses multimodal metaphor theory to analyze the Chinas national image constructed in the opening ceremony. Research has found that in the opening ceremony
of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, various modalities are closely connected, achieving cross modal interaction of visual, auditory, and
textual modalities. These multimodal metaphors play a synergistic role in different modal symbols, jointly completing the process of expressing meaning and constructing an open, inclusive image of a great country, demonstrating Chinas pursuit of unity among countries
and world peace.
