Abstract


This study examines the role of pragmatics in college English education, emphasizing the challenges and strategies for enhancing
Chinese college students pragmatic competence. By integrating insights from recent studies (Bardovi-Harlig, 2020; Taguchi, 2021), it highlights the potential of technology and task-based learning in pragmatic instruction. The analysis addresses key barriers, including curriculum
limitations and teacher readiness, while proposing practical solutions to improve pragmatic teaching. The research underscores the value of AI
tools and intercultural approaches in advancing English education for effective global communication.
