A Study on the Construction of Doctors Pragmatic Identity in Online Live Medical Consultations
Abstract
to analyze the pragmatic identities constructed by physicians in real-time internet-based interactions and the primary discursive strategies
employed in this identity construction process. Within the professional context of internet-based healthcare, doctors strategically establish
varied pragmatic identities through discourse to deliver medical services, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical
communication. Through live-streaming platforms, physicians engage in diagnostic dialogues with patients, during which their professional social identity interacts dynamically with contextually constructed pragmatic identities. By examining how medical professionals
negotiate their identities through linguistic choices in this emerging communicative environment, the study contributes to the development
of more efficient and patient-centered doctor-patient interaction models in digital healthcare contexts. The findings promise to enrich both
pragmatic identity theories and computer-mediated communication studies while offering practical implications for optimizing online
medical consultation platforms.
