Abstract

Against the backdrop of China's deepening implementation of its maritime power and transportation power strategies, coupled with
the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the maritime technology disciplineserving as a cornerstone for national maritime developmentplays a pivotal role in safeguarding China's maritime rights and enhancing the global competitiveness of its shipping industry. Taking
the maritime technology program at Hainan Vocational University of Science and Technology as a case study, this paper examines the core demands of the maritime power strategy for cultivating exceptional professionals in this field. Building upon its national-level flagship program
and provincial "Double High" (high-quality and high-level) professional cluster, the research analyzes current opportunities and challenges in
talent development. It proposes innovative approaches to cultivate outstanding maritime professionals, including redefining educational objectives, optimizing curricula, strengthening faculty development, innovating practical training, and deepening industry-education collaboration.
