Application Analysis of Spice Plants in Modern Landscape Design in Hainan

Junhua Yu

Abstract

Leveraging its tropical monsoon climate, Hainan has cultivated abundant aromatic plant resources that possess "aesthetic, aromatic,
ecological, and cultural values, " offering unique botanical choices for modern landscape design. This study examines contemporary Hainan
gardens by systematically analyzing core native aromatic plant species and their practical applications. It identifies current challenges in landscape designincluding "limited variety, random placement, underdeveloped functionality, and inadequate maintenance" and proposes
targeted strategies through four dimensions: scientific configuration, functional expansion, cultural empowerment, and meticulous care. The
research aims to provide theoretical references and practical pathways for developing "aromatic, ecological, and regionally distinctive" modern gardens in Hainan, thereby enhancing living environments and shaping the tropical garden characteristics of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
