Analysis of Cultural Connotation of Hainan Veranda Decoration

Bo Yuan

Abstract

As architectural relics of the historical wave of "going south to Southeast Asia", the decorative system of Hainan qilou is an intuitive
carrier of multicultural integration. From wall reliefs to window lattice patterns, from gable decorations to qilou pillars, every decorative detail
not only carries the nostalgic memories of Qiong overseas Chinese but also blends the tropical charm of Southeast Asia, European classical
aesthetics, and traditional symbols of China. Taking the old qilou street in Haikou as a research sample, this paper systematically analyzes the
cultural connotation of Hainan qilou decoration from three dimensions: decorative themes, craftsmanship techniques, and cultural symbols,
revealing its unique temperament of "East-meets-West and ancient-meets-modern", providing theoretical references for the protection and inheritance of historical architectural decoration culture.
