Research on the Application of Art Therapy in Visual Communication Design

Xiaoyang Hu

Abstract

In contemporary society, the deep integration of quality education and mental health has become a significant trend in educational
development. Art therapy, as an interdisciplinary practice, is gaining widespread global attention, demonstrating unique value, particularly
within the reform of aesthetic education. It is not merely a combination of art and psychology, but also an educational pathway of "nurturing
the heart through art and cultivating the person through culture." This paper systematically explores the application pathways and practical
significance of visual communication design in art therapy from four dimensions: the role of art therapy, mental health education for university students, the integration of visual communication design with aesthetic education, and art therapy with Chinese cultural characteristics. It
further analyzes its multifaceted value in promoting mental health and holistic education by considering the contemporary media environment
and socio-cultural context.
