Application Value of Pathogen-targeted High-throughput Sequencing (tNGs) Technology in Lower Respiratory Tract Infectious Diseases

Keqin Hu, Shoushuo Fu, Huang Li, Chen Wang, Heziqian Xu

Abstract

The pathogens of lower respiratory tract infection are complex and harmful to the health of infants, young children and the elderly.
Early and correct identification of pathogens is the key to treatment. Traditional pathogen detection methods have low detection rate, long
time-consuming, and cannot detect multiple pathogens in a single specimen at the same time. Therefore, a more accurate pathogen detection
technology is urgently needed in clinical practice to improve the prognosis of patients. With the advantages of high sensitivity, high specificity
and high throughput, tNGS technology can quickly and accurately detect a variety of pathogens in lower respiratory tract infectious diseases,
which significantly improves the diagnostic accuracy. This article reviews the application value of pathogen-targeted high-throughput sequencing technology in lower respiratory tract infectious diseases.
