Tao Zhou

Abstract

At present, diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common disease in clinic, and its treatment and clinical application have been paid more and
more attention. As a traditional Chinese medicine for invigorating qi and promoting blood circulation, astragalus has obvious advantages in
treating diabetes and its complications. A large number of studies have shown that astragalus controls sugar metabolism, delaying the diabetic
nephropathy caused by diabetes, diabetic angiopathy, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic cardiomyopathy, diabetic foot ulcers, diabetic inflammation and other aspects have achieved good results. In this paper, the effective components, mechanism and research progress of Astragalus
membranaceus in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications were reviewed, in order to provide a new clinical thinking for drug
development and treatment of diabetes.
