Research on the Prevention and Treatment of Climate-related Diseases Based on the Theory of Five Elements and Six Qi in the Inner Classic

Abstract


This study examines the relationship between coronary heart disease (CHD) and meteorological factors, based on the Five Elements
and Six Qi theory from the "Huangdi Neijing." Data was collected from CHD patients at the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (2015 2023) and meteorological data from Shenyang Meteorological Bureau. Statistical analysis revealed that
CHD cases were most associated with the final qi phase, followed by the fifth and initial qi phases. Specific disease types correlated with certain qi, such as Shaoyin Junhuo and Yangming Dryness Metal. CHD cases were positively correlated with average air pressure and negatively
correlated with temperature and humidity. No significant correlation was found with daily temperature range or rainfall. The study concludes
that higher air pressure, lower temperatures, and Yin/Fire deficiency contribute to increased CHD cases.
