Design of Cart for Harvesting Leaves of Lettuce

Gang Chen, Jixiang Wang, Hui Jiao*

Abstract

In order to solve the problems of low efficiency and high labor intensity in manual harvesting of lettuce, a new type of cart for
harvesting and removing leaves of lettuce was proposed based on the stem characteristics and planting environment of lettuce. The trolley integrates the walking device, grasping mechanism, cutting mechanism, leaf removal mechanism and basket entry device to achieve the lettuce
cutting, leaf removal and basket integration operation, mechanical instead of manual. The design of the cart can reduce the labor intensity and
promote the development of lettuce industry.
