Theoretical Foundations of Digital Technology Adoption for Supply Chain Resilience: A Systematic Review

Jing Zhang

Abstract

This systematic review synthesizes 94 articles (2018-2024) to clarify how digital technologies enhance supply-chain resilience (SCR).
Applying content analysis, we map the fragmented literature onto two complementary theoretical streams: (1) resource-based, dynamiccapability and information-processing perspectives that treat digital assets as rare resources which generate sensing, predictive, analytical,
reconfiguration and knowledge-management capabilities; (2) resource-orchestration, organisational-learning and knowledge-based views that
stress the joint value of these capabilities with governance mechanisms. The resulting integrative framework shows that digital technologies
first confer a resource advantage, then when coupled with governance and team-learning practices create a virtuous cycle of innovation, sustainable development and continued technology adoption.
