Discussion on PLC Fault Handling Method in Electrical Automation Engineering

Pengcheng Chen

Abstract

As the industry evolves, electrical automation systems face increasing challenges. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technology not only enhances automation capabilities but also ensures production safety and significantly boosts efficiency. This paper addresses core
PLC troubleshooting needs by developing a three-dimensional fault localization framework covering signal chains, program monitoring, and
hardware status. Based on these findings, it proposes targeted strategies for input/output failures, program logic errors, and module malfunctions, establishing a complete "localize-troubleshoot-verify" workflow. Through practical implementation steps, this approach resolves the
current reliance on experience and inefficiency in fault resolution, providing actionable guidance for PLC troubleshooting in electrical automation projects while improving system maintenance standards and operational stability.
