Optimization Analysis of the Cold Chain Logistics Network for Fresh Agricultural Products in Hainan

Abstract

As a core production hub for tropical specialty and high-efficiency agriculture in China, Hainan boasts a diverse range of fresh
tropical agricultural products with stable supply. The cold chain logistics network serves as a critical infrastructure for ensuring product quality, minimizing distribution losses, and expanding market reach. However, current cold chain logistics in Hainan faces challenges such as
uneven node distribution, inadequate supporting facilities, inefficient transportation coordination, and low digitalization levels, all of which
hinder the quality and efficiency improvement of the agricultural sector. Aligned with the development goals of the Hainan Free Trade Port
and agricultural modernization, this study identifies existing shortcomings in Hainan's cold chain logistics network for tropical fresh agricultural products. Guided by optimization principlesincluding demand orientation, hub-driven strategies, multimodal coordination, digital
empowerment, and green safetythe paper proposes actionable solutions across five dimensions: node systems, transportation routes, facility
equipment, smart platforms, and operational entities. It also enhances four supporting mechanisms: policy frameworks, standards, collaborative frameworks, and market mechanisms. The ultimate objective is to establish an efficient, integrated, fully controllable, and interconnected
cold chain logistics network that underpins the high-quality development of Hainan's tropical agriculture.
