Abstract

The decorative patterns of traditional Hainanese vernacular architecture vividly reflect the regional culture of Hainan, embodying the spiritual essence of Central Plains culture, Maritime culture, Hakka culture, and Nanyang cultures. These motifs permeate
building components such as ridges, doorways, beams, and walls, serving not merely as architectural elements, but as authentic expressions of Hainanese people's worldview, values, and aesthetic sensibilities. This study, grounded in research on Hainanese vernacular
architecture, moves beyond generalizations by analyzing representative case studiesincluding Home of Qiu Jun, the Hou Family
Compound, and the Cai Ancestral Home. It examines their embedded cultural significance and distinctive artistic expressions, revealing underlying geographic attributes and humanistic qualities. By anchoring the research in tangible examples, this approach offers
practical insights for preserving, transmitting, and revitalizing Hainan's traditional residential heritage, thereby fostering the sustainable
vibrancy of local culture.
