Research on the Construction of Coaching Competence Model for University Sports Coaches

Zhongjun Sun

Abstract

Based on competence theory, coach behavior theory, social-ecological systems theory, and constructivist learning theory, this paper, in conjunction with the current situation and needs of sports development in Chinese universities, deeply analyzes the core competencies and qualities of university sports coaches in different dimensions such as training, teaching, management, research, and nurturing. It constructs a comprehensive, scientific, and operable Coaching Competence Model for University Sports Coaches. This model includes three levels: core competence, professional competence, and developmental competence, and is further broken down into 12 indicators. It aims to provide theoretical guidance and practical basis for the selection, training, assessment, and development of university sports coaches, ultimately serving to elevate the level of university sports and promote the physical and mental health development of college students.
