Spatializing Chengdus GDP: A Night Light Analysis of Economic Trends (2019-2021)
Abstract
The findings reveal that Qingyang, Wuhou, and Jinjiang districts experienced high-density and fast-growing GDP trends, while the eastern
and western parts of Chengdu showed low-density and negative growth patterns. The study also identified the impact of the COVID-19
pandemic on the central urban area, with negative GDP growth and cold spot clustering in 2019-2020. However, in 2020-2021, the central
urban area recovered with hotspot clustering and rapid expansion of positive GDP growth regions. This analysis serves as supplementary
information for the development of future economic and social policies in Chengdu, with the objective of implementing precise and targeted measures.
