Effectiveness of Social Media Marketing in E-commerce Customer Acquisition

Yanghong Hou

Abstract

The decline of traditional e-commerce traffic dividends, coupled with rising customer acquisition costs and lengthy conversion processes, has become a major obstacle to industry development. Social media marketing redefines the consumer decision-making journey through
discovery-based shopping, addressing industry challenges such as high traffic costs, insufficient conversion accuracy, and weak user retention.
By implementing tailored content creation, public-private domain integration, and data-driven campaign optimization, it establishes a comprehensive customer acquisition system. This approach reduces customer acquisition expenses, enhances conversion efficiency, builds sustainable
brand user assets, and provides a viable pathway for long-term customer acquisition in the e-commerce sector.
