Overall Effects of Oral Ergothioneine (Vital Ergo®) on Human Skin Care and Sleep Improvement

Abstract

Ergothioneine (EGT), or thiolhistidine-betaine, chemically known as 2-mercapto-histidine trimethyl endosulfate, is the only naturally occurring 2-thio-imdazole amino acid found. Ergothioneine is a naturally occurring antioxidant with a wide range of biological activities
in living organisms. In recent years, ergothioneine has attracted widespread attention for its excellent antioxidant and cytoprotective effects
as people become more and more concerned about skin health and sleep improvement. As a compound that can effectively fight free radicals
and protect cells from oxidative stress damage, ergothioneine is widely used in nutritional supplements, hoping to achieve skin care and sleep
improvement effects by combining internal and external effects.
