Renovation of Aging Friendly Transportation Facilities and Intelligent Assistive Devices

Fei Wang

Abstract

This article explores elderly-friendly upgrades for bus stops and metro stations, focusing on facility improvements and smart assistive technologies.
??Key measures include step-free platform designs, non-slip flooring and retractable shelters to address challenges like boarding difficulties and waiting in the rain, while height-adjustable armrest seats enhance comfort. Information systems are tailored for elderly needs
through large-font touchscreens, adjustable-volume voice announcements and vibration alters to support those with vision or hearing impairments. Moreover, smart tools like wearable devices synced with real-time transit applications offer features such as route guidance and
fall detection alerts.
??These upgrades not only make public transportation safer and more accessible, but also make older adults travel independently and
with dignity.
