The Dynamic Impact of Digital Technology on Carbon Emission Efficiency: Evidence from China's Regions

Abstract

Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2004 to 2021, this study uses two-way fixed model and panel threshold model
to analyze the impact of digital technology on carbon emission efficiency. The results indicate that digital technology significantly enhances
carbon emission efficiency, and the threshold effect test further reveals that the relationship between the two is not linear but exhibits a positive U-shaped non-linear pattern. The conclusions provide valuable insights for policy makers to fully exploit digital technology to achieve
carbon neutrality.
