Hao Guo, Ting Xu, Chao Ren, HongYue Wang

Abstract

With the acceleration of urbanization and the continuous development of digital technology, the demand for 3D modeling of buildings in urban planning, cultural heritage protection, virtual reality and other fields is increasing day by day. Based on 3D laser scanning technology, this paper conducts 3D modeling of the exterior of buildings. Firstly, point cloud data is collected from the exterior of the building using a 3D laser scanner, and point cloud processing is carried out using Trimble RealWorks software, including: point cloud stitching, clipping
and noise removal, and registration; finally, the linkage function between Trimble RealWorks and SketchUp is utilized to extract the characteristic lines of the building, and modeling is conducted based on the point cloud, exploring the techniques, methods and processes of building
3D models based on point cloud data, providing a reference for the digital modeling of buildings.
