Internet of Things-Enabled Smart Maintenance Systems: Impact on Operational Efficiency

Abstract


The construction of the Internet of Things (IoT) in maintenance management is typical of Industry 4.0, but there is still a lack of empirical research on how it has increased operating efficiency There are also implementation difficulties; due to old equipment and fragmented
data systems in some enterprises, only half of the expected increase in efficiency has been realised. Based on the above analysis, the adoption
of IoT-based intelligent maintenance positively affects the economy of scale, but the size of this improvement varies according to whether a
company is well-equipped to use new technologies.
