The Impact of School-Home-Hospital Collaborative Care on Weight Control in Obese Kids

Abstract

Objective: To explore the effects of a school-family-doctor collaborative care model on weight control in obese children, providing
an intervention plan for preventing and controlling childhood obesity. Methods: A total of 86 obese children from local primary and secondary schools between January 2024 and January 2025 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, 43
cases each. The control group received routine care, while the observation group underwent a 12-month school-family-doctor collaborative
intervention. BMI, waist circumference, body fat percentage, health behavior scores, and weight control effectiveness were compared between
the two groups. Results: After 12 months of intervention, both groups showed decreases in body indicators, with the observation group significantly lower than the control group; the observation group also scored higher in all health behavior dimensions and total score than the
control group; the total weight control effectiveness in the observation group was 93.02%, higher than 74.42% in the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The school-family-doctor collaborative care can effectively improve body composition in obese children, correct unhealthy habits, and achieve significant weight loss, making it suitable for clinical and school promotion.
