The Latest Research Progress in Postoperative Dietary Care for Patients with Esophageal Cancer

Abstract

Esophageal cancer radical surgery reshapes the physiological structure of the digestive tract, and complications such as anastomotic
healing, reflux, sarcopenia, and anastomotic fistula are highly related to postoperative diet management. In recent years, Enhanced Recovery
After Surgery (ERAS), Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), individualized stepwise diet, and home-based continuous nutritional care have become the core research directions in this field. This article reviews the recent 3-year evidence-based research results from both domestic and
international sources, summarizes the latest progress in three aspects: postoperative phased and refined dietary intervention, targeted dietary
care for complications, and continuous nutritional management throughout the process. It also analyzes the current clinical nursing shortcomings and provides evidence-based references for optimizing the dietary care standard after esophageal cancer surgery, improving the long-term
nutritional status and quality of life of patients.
