Research on the Construction of Xi'an as a City of Museums from the Perspective of Museum-City Integration

Abstract

Building a city of museums is an important way for historic cities to enhance public cultural services. Xi'an has dense heritage resources, a diverse museum system and expanding cultural consumption scenarios, yet the numerical advantage of museums does not automatically form an urban cultural service network. Focusing on the spatial organization and governance transformation of Xi'an as a City of Museums, this study examines its resource base, spatial structure and service shortcomings through the perspective of museum-city integration,
using public data, planning texts and representative museum locations. The analysis shows that Xi'an's museum resources present a pattern of
central clustering, extension along heritage corridors, growth of a southern cultural innovation node and scattered county-level nodes.
