Digital Technology: Empowering the Conservation and Cultural Inheritance of Qin-Han Detached Palace Ruins in Guanzhong

Abstract


As a vital component of Qin and Han cultural heritage, the ruins of detached palaces of the Qin and Han dynasties have been underappreciated in current cultural relics conservation and cultural tourism development. Nevertheless, serving as key spatial venues for imperial
activities during the Qin and Han dynasties, these ruins boast profound cultural connotations and substantial archaeological potential. They
constitute a critical domain for developing integrated local cultural tourism and distinctive digital intellectual property (IP), facilitating intensified publicity and enabling the public to better engage in cultural heritage protection. Digital technologies can be leveraged to create an
immersive cultural tourism experience that "bridges the ancient and modern worlds", tailored to the diverse functional characteristics of Qin
and Han detached palace ruins. The digital transformation of the metaverse centered on these ruins represents a pivotal approach to integrating digital technologies in the future, and enjoys broad prospects. Applying the concept of "embodied immersion" to the detached palace ruins
enables full reconstruction of their original layouts. While effectively safeguarding cultural heritage, this approach highlights the sites' cultural, artistic and historical inheritance attributes, fosters innovative cultural IP featuring integrated culture and technology, and helps identify
breakthrough opportunities for cultural tourism development accurately and efficiently
