A Study on the Spread and Prevention of Health-Related Rumors on the WeChat Public Platform
Abstract
employs the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) method to analyze the mechanisms of health rumor diffusion based on a sample of 35
highly viral rumors from WeChat public accounts. The results reveal that no single condition is sufficient or necessary to drive the spread of
health-related rumors, reflecting the complex interplay of real-world factors. Cultural factors play a significant role, with the "association with
traditional Chinese medicine" being particularly critical in the "account reach-driven, TCM-associated" pathway.
