Research on the “Hyper-Real” Form of VR Cinema

Abstract

The mimetic characteristics of VR films, which are fully perceptual, deeply immersive, and strongly interactive, come from the
“simulacrum” of reality. In Baudrillard’s view, the last level of simulacrum in the consumer society is the “hyperreal” form. The “hyperreal”
form in VR film is also related to the myth of “complete film” in classical film theory and the contemporary interpretation of “artistic finality”.
