A Study on the Cultural Heritage Value of Tin Hau Temple in Lugang, Taiwan

Abstract


Mazu beliefs are folk beliefs passed down in Chinas coastal areas and have been listed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Lugang Tin Hau Temple in Taiwan enshrines the only Mazu statue in Taiwan, which was commissioned by the Meizhou
Ancestral Temple in Putian, Fujian Province, China, and is called the Ancestral Temple. This paper takes Lugang Tin Hau Temple in Taiwan
as the object of study, and explores its deep historical inheritance value, artistic and aesthetic value, and social harmony value in the context of
the unique regional cultural style of Mazu in Taiwan. The study of the cultural heritage value of Taiwans Lugang Tin Hau Temple is conducive to strengthening the ties between the people of the regions along the maritime route. Thus, it provides new thinking on the study of Mazu
culture for civilizational exchange and promotion of global governance in the new era.
