Preservation and Rejuvenation -- Wu Xizais Seal Writing Style is an Example

Abstract


Wu Xizai was a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty. He played a connecting role in the history of calligraphy in the Qing Dynasty and had profound attainments in poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing. Wu Xizai calligraphy method from Deng Shilu, Bao Shichen,
the former teacher nourishment, a hundred grinding history, its own side, unique into a unique, in the continuous practice and exploration of
the formation of their own artistic style. This paper intends to analyze Wu Xizais experience of learning books, his thoughts on seal characters and his artistic characteristics by means of comparative study. In order to comprehensively and profoundly understand Wu Xizais thought
and style characteristics of calligraphy, and to enlighten the current practice and research of calligraphy.
