Comparative Study on Aesthetic Representation in the Translations of The Peach Blossom Fan (Excerpt) from the Perspective of Translation Aesthetics: With Xu Yuanchongs and Stephen Owens Translations as Case Studies

Abstract


From the perspective of translation aesthetics, this paper compares the differences in aesthetic representation between the translations of The Peach Blossom Fan (excerpt) by Stephen Owen and Xu Yuanchong so as to provide constructive insights to the study of the
English translation of the drama. The findings indicate the disparities between these two translations in dealing with language forms and also
reveal Owens and Xus different interpretations of the imagery and emotions.
