Abstract

British Relations with China provides a detailed exposition of the Sino-British relationship during the Second Opium War. The coherence of discourse and logical connections are tightly knit, yet the semantics often remain ambiguous and just scratch the surface. The study
is dedicated to discuss the explicitation of texual metafunction in British Relations with China, offering a detailed analysis of the application
of explicitation strategies such as extension, substitution, addition and conversion through typical translation examples.
