Harmonious Coexistence and Sustainable Development: The Convergence of Marxist Ecological Concepts and Traditional Chinese Culture

Wenjie Zhang, Wenjia Yuan

Abstract

Why has Marxism, a great ideological system originating from Europe, been able to take deep root and flourish in the distant land
of China within just a century? This phenomenon is not only a response to the call of the times and an inevitable historical choice, but it also
reflects a profound connection with Chinese traditional culture. This paper aims to explore the convergence of ecological civilization concepts
in Marxism and the excellent traditional culture of China through the lenses of harmonious coexistence and sustainable development. It seeks
to integrate the essence of Marxism with the values embedded in Chinese traditional culture, fostering a shared set of values among the people. Ultimately, this effort aspires to imbue Marxist theory with distinctive Chinese characteristics, reinforcing its historical foundation and
popular support in China, thereby allowing the tree of Marxist truth to take root and flourish in China and contribute to the construction of a
beautiful China.
