Chenlei Sun

Abstract

David Garretts version of We Will Rock You combines violin with rock music, injecting modern musical elements into a classical instrument. This innovative adaptation not only retains the original rhythmic intensity and appeal of Queens classic but also utilizes the
violins unique timbre and techniques to create a distinctive performance within contemporary music. Garretts unique approach to structure,
arrangement, and playing techniques enables a seamless fusion of violin and modern music, enriching the musics layers and attracting a
younger audience to classical instruments. By analyzing this piece, the paper explores the artistic characteristics of combining violin with
modern music and the cross-genre innovation it brings, offering new perspectives on the modernization of classical music.
