Pragmatic Strategies for Maintaining Trust in Long-Distance Romantic Relationships Among College Students

Abstract


Maintain trust has become a crucial factor in long-distance relationships among college students. This paper collected data with 100
university students in long-distance relationships and selected 10 for interview-based research through social media platforms commonly used
by university students: WeChat, TikTok, and RED. The age of college students ranges from 19 to 23 years old (average age =20.5, standard
deviation = 0.85). This study finds that long-distance college students primarily use the following pragmatic strategies to maintain trust: frequent communication, transparent information sharing, and active emotional support. Through effectively pragmatic methods and strategies,
long-distance couples can better manage trust issues, promoting the long-term stability of their relationships.
