Abstract

The Bonesetter’s Daughter is another novel by the American Chinese female writer Amy Tan that focuses on mother-daughter relationships, following The Joy Luck Club and The Kitchen God’s Wife. This article takes a comparative literary imagologie perspective, focusing
on the Chinese images within the text. Through the analysis of traditional Chinese culture, mystical Eastern imagery, and traditional Chinese
family ethics, it examines the presentation of the “other” image in the novel and further explores the intentions behind the portrayal of stereotypical Chinese images in the text.
