The Strategies for Theatre Industry to Renovate Urban Space in Shanghai

Abstract


As the development of social economy, there is a strong demand for renewal in many old urban centers. Shanghai has nearly two
hundred years of urban history since its opening as a port, and now some backward urban spaces are in urgent need of innovation. Accordingly, the transformation of these architectural spaces pushed by theatre industry has achieved exemplary success, which not only meets the
expectations of governments in promoting culture and arts, but also brings benefits to the public community. This article introduces the relationship between the theater industry and urban space, takes some typical cases of Shanghais local urban space upgrading with the help of
the theater industry and analyzes its development strategy, in purpose of providing a more novel reference to the integrated management of
performing arts and urban cultural space.
