Abstract
Chinas establishment of the Hainan Free Trade Port signified a significant stride towards its ambition of becoming a global trade nexus. Within this broad context, the maritime education sector in Hainan is confronted with unparalleled opportunities and challenges. Employing the
educational ecosystem theory as our analytical framework, this study provides a comprehensive review of the current state of maritime education in Hainan and delves into the predominant trends it is facing. The research emphasizes key areas such as talent development, curriculum
construction, teaching methodology innovation, and international exchange and cooperation, offering strategic recommendations accordingly.
The study aims to offer valuable insights and guidance for policymakers, educators, and industry professionals to foster the sustainable and
robust growth of maritime education in Hainan and to effectively navigate the challenges posed by the free trade port development.
