Metaphors in Fandom Slang Expressions

Abstract


With the growing popularity of the entertainment industry, fan circles are emerging with unique behavior and linguistic features, exhibiting distinctive metaphors. This study identified some typical metaphors and cognitive processes in fandom slang, using expressions from
Chinese corpora and Weibo. Based on the Conceptual Metaphor Theory, three metaphors were analyzed wall, grain, and grass to
deconstruct the psychological traits of fandom members, providing insights into youth subcultures and their social implications.
