Early Renaissance Formism Analysis: Belief Themes and Painting Techniques

Dezhi Ren

Abstract

The present paper explores the role and influence of the theme of faith in art, as well as the manner in which artists transform faith
themes into visual art. By analysing early Renaissance works, it is revealed how painters used symbolism, allegory, composition, and colour
to express faith themes. The paper also discusses the implications of this formalist analysis for understanding early Renaissance art and modern art theory and practice.
