Tagores Pastoral Ecological Ideals in I Asked Nothing

Yanan Sui

Abstract

This essay examines I Asked Nothing, a seventeen-line poem from Rabindranath Tagores anthology The Gardener (1913),
through the lens of ecological poetics. The study reveals how Tagore employs nature and life imagery to capture the pristine beauty of an unspoiled pastoral ecosystem. By highlighting the affinity and coexistence of humans and nature, he embodies the holistic ecological harmony.
The study decodes Tagores pastoral ecological ideals in the poem from aspects of nature, life, and human soul.
