A Cognitive Linguistic Analysis of the Semantic Extension of Hand

Abstract


With the development and change of language, words no longer have a single meaning, and polysemy of a word has become
an important phenomenon in linguistics. It can not only provide support for peoples communication and communication, but also reflect
the development and change of language and society, reflecting the concept and characteristics of cognitive linguistics. This study mainly
takes the semantic extension of hand as an example. By sorting out the metaphorical and metonymic meanings of hand and its application cases in language contexts, this study explores different semantic types and the relationship between metaphor and metonymy of hand
from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, so as to deepen peoples understanding of hand and enrich relevant theoretical research in
cognitive linguistics.
