A Study on the Historical Origins and Artistic Characteristics of Shandong Bangzi

Abstract


Shandong Bangzi, a traditional Chinese opera originating from Shandong Province, represents a significant component of China’s
intangible cultural heritage. This study examines its historical evolution, artistic features, and contemporary preservation challenges. Through
historical analysis, fieldwork, and comparative studies, the paper reveals Shandong Bangzi’s unique musical structure, performance styles,
and cultural significance. The research highlights modern threats to its survival and proposes strategies for sustainable safeguarding. Findings contribute to broader discussions on intangible cultural heritage protection and the revitalization of traditional performing arts. The study
employs multiple methodologies including archival research, musicological analysis, and ethnographic fieldwork to provide a comprehensive
understanding of this art form’s past and present.
