Color Narrative and Emotional Metaphor -- Visual Language Analysis of Lee Chang-dongs Green Fish

Abstract


Lee Chang-dongs film Green Fish shows the changes of Korean society and individual emotional dilemma with unique color
aesthetics and visual language. This paper takes red and green in Green Fish as the starting point to explore their symbolic meaning and
metaphorical functions in narrative and emotional expression. Through film color theory, visual semiotics and cultural context analysis, this
paper points out that red and green, as opposing visual elements, not only shape the emotion and psychological state of the characters, but also
deepen the films performance of the theme of life contradiction and social alienation. This paper aims to reveal the unique value of color narration in Green Fish and provide a new perspective for the study of color application in film.
