A Study of the Path of Contemporary Chinese Children’s Literature Going Global from the Perspective of Translation Variation Theory -- Taking the English translation of Bronze and Sunflower as an example

Abstract

In order for contemporary Chinese literature to go global faster and better, the power of children’s literature cannot be underestimated. Children’s literature translation should not only consider the age and psychological characteristics of children, but also have vivid and
interesting language. Unlike traditional translation theories, translation variation theory considers the special needs of the target language
readers and requires a certain degree of adaptation to the original text in order to facilitate the reading of the target language readers. This
article takes the English translation of Bronze Sunflower as an example to analyze the application of translation variation theory in children’s
literature translation from the perspectives of adaptation, deletion, addition, narration, and interpretation, which summarizes the path of contemporary Chinese children’s literature going global.
