Abstract
This paper conducts a corpus-based study of conflictual discourse in English debate competitions, providing an in-depth analysis of
the distribution features of attitudinal resources. By constructing a specialized corpus of English debate competitions and applying Appraisal
Theory from Systemic Functional Linguistics, the study performs detailed annotation and statistical analysis of the corpus to reveal the usage
patterns and characteristics of attitudinal resources in conflictual discourse of English debates. This research provides theoretical foundation
and empirical support for understanding language communication strategies and attitudinal expression in English debates, while offering reference for English debate teaching and practice.
